Private Prosthetist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Prosthetist to join our team delivering first class Prosthetic care within our prestigious private prosthetic centre: The London Prosthetic Centre (LPC) based in Kingston-Upon-Thames.

LPC attracts patients from across the UK and from around the world, receiving referrals from a variety of sources such medico-legal, self-funding and embassies for international patients.  

As a prosthetist you will be required to deliver the highest standards of treatment across a range of amputation levels, both Upper and Lower extremity. Experience of working with high end componentry is essential to meet the needs and expectations of the private caseload. The role will require flexibility from the successful applicant in order to constantly ensure the needs of the patients and the service are met and exceeded. Growing the reputation of the service through positive patient experience is a key responsibility of the senior Prosthetist role. This is a demanding position, working in a fast-paced environment so applicants need to be commercial, proactive, and have excellent problem solving and communication skills. 

In addition to this you’ll also need to:
  • Assess, measure, cast, fit, deliver, supply, review and adjust prosthesis as required across a range of amputation levels, both upper and lower extremity.
  • Cast and rectify models in a timely fashion using both traditional methods and CADCAM where appropriate.
  • Manage the patient’s case, including patient expectation, ensuring the individual’s needs are respected and ensuring the patient is informed throughout the process with clear explanations of proposed interventions.
  • Maintain good knowledge of available components and understand their function.
  • Work within the parameters of accepted "best practice" at all times. To ensure that all aspects of practice conform to clinical governance at all times.
  • Act as a resource for clinical cover for annual leave, sickness, planned absences or emergency cover where appropriate.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the most appropriate and effective treatment for patients.
  • Identify, in conjunction with the Clinical Director and other Prosthetic Staff, service developments and/or improvements to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
