Innovative Skin Matching Technology Creates Up to 22,000 Shades
Exclusively available to Steeper’s Silicone Clinic is the Spectromatch technology, a skin colour matching technology that creates up to 22,000 colours to copy any skin colour required.
The Silicone Clinic, based at the London Prosthetic Centre in Kingston, specialises in custom high definition silicone cosmeses for upper and lower limb. The highly skilled team have created many silicone pieces that possess a life-like appearance – and match the other leg or arm perfectly.
Kevin Priest, Business Development Manager at the Silicone Clinic, explains: “Each piece is unique and closely matched to the skin’s colour and texture. Even skin pigmentation, freckles, veins, hair and even tattoos can be incorporated to give an authentic and personalised finish. It’s remarkable to see the level of detail we can apply, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the real limb and the silicone creation. The team are very passionate about creating these intricate pieces of art.”
The London clinic has a high profile client list including Heather Mills and Victoria Milligan. The ‘beach’ leg created for Victoria by the London Prosthetic Centre was made from carbon fibre and glass with a silicone casing and invisible holes for drainage. The leg is lightweight and perfectly colour-matched Victoria’s other leg, complete with individual hand-painted freckles.
Victoria said of her new leg and silicone casing: “It’s almost nicer looking than my original leg, because there are no hairs or veins, and it has these beautiful pink toenails.”
