Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a vital part of the rehabilitation process for amputees, as it helps restore movement and function whilst improving flexibility and strength as your body recovers.
Sessions will often include putting together a program of daily exercises to relieve pain and stiffness in joints, ultimately encouraging better movement of the body. Education and advice on improving posture and technique will be covered, and assessing your expectations when it comes to how much independence you would like whilst keeping in mind any medical limitations.
Often our physiotherapists will also help you to use your prosthesis, assisting in techniques for a comfortable walking gait, and building up the amount of time using a device. They will also provide guidance on maintaining the general health of your residual limb.
If you would like to contact us regarding physiotherapy, or our rehabilitation services as a whole at The London Prosthetic centre, contact us
