Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is an important source of support for clients following amputations. Our occupational therapist specialises in working with amputation recovery, helping our clients to restore a reasonable level of independence.
Our occupational therapist is happy to asses you at our clinic, within your home or in a community setting.

Below are some of the ways our occupational therapist can help:

  • Teaching new techniques and strategies to become independent with personal care and hygiene
  • Providing advice on large items of equipment such as wheelchairs or comfy seating
  • Discussing home modifications
  • Discussing returning to work and hobbies, advice about vehicles and adapted driving options
  • Using public transport and community facilities such as supermarkets and cinemas
  • Building confidence

Occupational Therapists are an essential part of the multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team. We can work on shared rehabilitation goals in a holistic way to ensure patients return to meaningful occupations outside the clinic and, crucially, in their own homes, communities and environments.
