Energy Return
Increased resistance in the plantarflexion provides more energy storage and return when walking quickly or up slopes. The ankle remains dorsi-flexed during swing phase to increase toe clearance and reduce the risk of trips and falls.

Stability and Support
The Elan quickly responds to changes in walking pace, using increased dorsiflexion resistance to brake when walking down slopes to improve safety and stability.
